Ethical Internet Use

After much deliberation of processing this for the last few weeks, it is time to say this. The Internet is a tool to use for research purposes, for reaching out to old friends, keeping in touch with family faraway, for entertainment and for practical uses such as shopping and education. It is not, and I reiterate, NOT, to be used as a way to stalk, threaten, intend to threaten or harm or frighten a person in any way, shape or form because someone is angry at someone else. ...Just recently, I have been the victim of this and this perpetrator knows who they are and what could be done to them if they do not stop (thank goodness not one of my friends/family here on Facebook). I have been calm, professional, and ladylike about this, but this was very unnecessary and inappropriate and with everything else I am coping with, this was over the line and unacceptable.
People like this are part of the reason I don't date, go out to parties, go on social media or reveal private parts of myself that would chastise/stigmatize me in the world. People like this are the reason I have had to spend time and money in therapy and medications and self-help just to be a normal, well-adjusted person in the world. I am grateful the internet was just starting out in high school so I never had to deal with cyberbulling or cyberstalking.
This person is lucky criminal charges are not being filed against them, as this is a crime and is punishable by law, no matter what the circumstances. They are lucky I have been too busy to take time away to go get a restraining order. I have no problems if someone looks at my profile pages to find out who I am and what I am about, but if they take that information, manipulate it in a way that can cause a person harm, and uses whatever means to contact them to abuse them via email or mail or in person, I draw the line. I have had someone in the past take information on this page or in messages and use it to create trouble too and it hurt me a lot. I will not tolerate that again. But the next time this person, or any person uses the Internet to cyberstalk, cyberbully, or cause trouble to me in the outside world, it will be punished severely.
To the friends I have here on the Internet, thank you for your support and grateful I can count on you to use the Internet in an ethical, non-evasive, harmless manner.
