Doctor's offices

Is it just me or are doctor's offices required when someone is hired for the job to be as inefficient or as idiotic as possible? Why do I hate going to the doctor or the dentist? The answer is always the same: inefficient, idiotic and sometimes unfriendly office staff. I call to make an appointment for Monday morning early, afternoons not possible, I get scheduled for Tuesday afternoon for the next day, right in middle of my work day. I ask for a referral for a second opinion for a dental procedure, they have a professional firm examine their own xrays, when they promised originally that another dentist would do their own investigation. I go in after confiming a psychiatric appt, the day before, the day I go in, they can't find my appt. and ask me to make another one for another few weeks. I call many times to get test results from the doctor that performed the procedure, they refer me back to my original doctor who doesn't even know from day one what has been going on. And now my optometrist's office. It's already bad enough the day before my appt. they call last minute to reschedule, (for an unexpected call out of town) but after rescheduling me, they call last minute right to the time their office closes, knowing I have the first appt. right when they open, call my home, leave a vague message to call first thing in the morning, no one is there when I call, I show up, hoping I still have an appt. and they tell me that they will not accept my insurance anymore and ask if I can pay out of pocket, which should have been brought up when they rescheduled plus they should have double checked to make sure they could no longer accept my insurance, because had another office worker tell them to double check their facts, I would have been stuck and pissed off to the heavens.

Look, I am sure there is some logic amongst this chaos, but even I wasn't this screwed up as a former secretary and before I assume anything to be true, I double check everything, and I am on top with my insurance carrier policy. To any medical office workers, I am sorry, but why you are in these professions, I don't know but obviously, I rather work for the pound than do your job because obvious the requirement for the job you do is lack of efficiency.

Along with health care reform, there should be a reform in how doctor's offices function.
